Check Target First!

Around Christmas time, I got a rare chance to go to the mall. As I was perusing Anthropolgie just to tease myself, some bathroom towels caught my eye. I’ve been thinking about painting our main floor bathroom navy for awhile, but we have yet to do it. These towels would have gone perfect with navy. However, I didn’t buy them because the bathroom isn’t navy and who wants pretty and expensive towels to highlight everything that isn’t pretty in a room? The bathroom needs attention! There is NOTHING going on in the bathroom. It’s still builder-white, which is the worst.  It’s also located at the end of a trail of cracked tile. (I mentioned in my home style post that the flooring in our house has some issues). We have people over fairly regularly, so this bathroom gets a lot of use by our guests. It’s definitely not a room that feels inviting or that I’m happy to share with friends. So yeah, I probably should have bought those towels and just planned on getting that room painted asap. However, I am glad I didn’t buy them because a few weeks later I saw almost the exact same thing at Target (of course, for less). I’ve also noticed in my recent Target grocery shopping trips that their side table game is strong. There are a few tables that I know I’ve seen at West Elm. This inspired me to check Target for a few items that I had been coveting at other stores but wasn’t willing to splurge on. I was amazed that they seriously had an exact match for one item, and it would save me$109! So this post is dedicated to getting the look for less via Target. Here are some of my favorite finds:

These are the towels that I wanted from Anthropologie (left) and the close match I found at Target (right). I think my mom just bought me the Target ones for a birthday gift. I’ll find out this weekend. #timetobuysomepaint

Anthro towels (no longer available) $18 (I think) / Target towels $9.49

I do like the shape and more authentic metal look of the West Elm table (left) better, but the Target table (right) is great for a trendy item like this.

West Elm side table $159 / Target side table $62.99

I had been keeping my eye on this Pottery Barn Teen trunk (left) for my son’s new big boy room. I was amazed when I checked Target on a whim and found this near exact match (right).

Pottery Barn Teen trunk $199 / Target trunk $89.95

I’m obsessed with the Pottery Barn table (left). However, it is way beyond what I would spend on a side table. There are just so many other things we could spend that money on that are way more important. The Target side table (right) is not an exact match, but it would do it for me. The main issue, though, is that it is shorter. I saw it in person, and I don’t think it would work with our current furniture. I still like it a lot, though, and wish I had the perfect place for it.

Pottery Barn table $299 / Target table $69.99

Our Corner of the World Blog | Anthropologie vs Target towels
I think the Target towel (right) is actually more “Anthropologie” than that actual Anthropologie towel (left) because of the texture. Good job Target.

Anthropologie towel $18 / Target towel $9.49

Now, I know it isn’t earth shattering that I found some great stuff at Target #everybodylovestarget. BUT, I am amazed at how close Target can get me to some expensive items I had ruled out! Some of these things (orange trunk) aren’t sold in stores, so next time you find something you love with a price tag that you don’t love, Check Target First!

I dare you to search the Target website for something you’ve been wanting at another store. Let me know if you find anything good!
