I love pretty much any chance I can get to go on a house tour. Parker is pretty into it, too. And even our kids seem to like it! Home-A-Rama is a custom-home showcase put on by the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. We’ve attended the past two years and plan to attend this year, as well. This year, the home show is taking place in Westfield at Chatham Hills. Last year was at Sagamore in Noblesville, and the year before was back in Westfield at Brookside.
We look forward to this all year. It’s so fun to tour these amazing houses. We get decorating and home improvement ideas and talk about how we would live in the house if we came up with $600,000-$1.2million 🙂
There will be 9 builders and 11 homes this year (more than the past), and a few of the houses are already open to the public on Sunday afternoons. We went on Sunday, so I’m going to give you a little preview. There were 2 finished models and one that was tour-able but not done. It seems like there are some themes each year, so I will make a few predictions on what I think we will see this year.
In 2014, all of the basements were extremely well done and had some sort of closed off room for adults like a cigar room, wine room, or card room. In 2015, the basements were all semi-finished (walls drywalled, but ceilings left open and just painted, and floors were just stained concrete). This year, my prediction is that we will see more than one brewery themed basement. Breweries are actually where Parker and I have gotten a lot of our ideas for our future basement (specifically Danny Boy Beer Works and Blind Owl Brewery). You can actually expect a brewery tour post (focused on decor) in the future. It’s been on my list of possible posts since the beginning. I’m sad I didn’t get it up before this 🙂
I’m also predicting a lot of bunk rooms, kid spaces that go beyond a playroom (like the homework/hangout area above), and over-the-top (in a good way) outdoor spaces. Biggest prediction: Destination garages?!? That hasn’t been done in the past, so I’d be super excited to see more of that! I love the idea of making the most of every space (especially for 1.2 million 🙂 ).
Home-A-Rama starts September 15th and runs through October 2nd (Thursdays-Sundays). You can expect more pictures from us when we can go through all of the houses!
